I keep getting surprised at how “right” our casting has been for “Cell.”

Today was our first big rehearsal time with 3 of our cast. We did a table read, talked about our characters, drank some beer, started working episodes… you know. They usual. The character played by Danny Cameron has a section where he’s shocked by a cattle prod. We were working that scene, when he looked at me and said, “Have you ever been hit with a cattle prod?”

“God no!”

” Well there was that time my grand-dad hit me with a cattle prod.”

WHA???

Don’t jump to conclusions. They were working cattle when Danny was younger and he accidentally got hit in the leg. What are the odds of casting a character who gets hit with a cattle prod with an actor who’s been hit with a cattle prod?? Amazing.

Danny was able to talk about how it sounds and how it actually works. He was coaching Kevin on how to use one and what it would be like. The scene ended up even more real than it was before, thanks to Danny.

Have I mentioned our cast is awesome.

I don’t think we’ll use a real one on set.
